Dudley Named CBI National Pitcher Of The Week

May 4, 2011

RUSTON, La. - Just two days after being named WAC Pitcher of the Week, Caleb Dudley was one of five pitchers to garner National Player of the Week honors from CollegeBaseballInsider.com, as announced this morning. Junior LHP Josh Osich of Oregon State took home the top weekly honor after tossing a no-hitter and striking out a career-high 13 batters against UCLA this past weekend.

Dudley, a sophomore from Texarkana, Texas (Texas HS), has held his opponents to a .125 batting average in his last four appearances while picking up two saves and a pair of wins in relief including one this past Saturday to help Tech clinch its first series win against Nevada since 2006. In his last 6.0 innings of work, Dudley has allowed just three hits and has not allowed a run.

With a WAC-best 24 appearances and eight saves on the season, Dudley is just one save shy of tying the single-season school record of nine saves held by Matt Buckle who accomplished the feat during the 2000 season.

Louisiana Tech (25-22, 7-9 WAC) will conclude their conference home schedule this weekend as 19th-ranked Fresno State comes to town for a four-game set. First pitch of the series is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. CT at J.C. Love Field.
