RUSTON - The Lady Techsters (27-25) finished the Mid-Winter Classic in eighth place Sunday afternoon after defeating Alabama A&M in the first round of match play.

LA Tech defeated the Lady Bulldogs 4-3 in the best-of-seven series and drew fifth-ranked Sam Houston St. in the second round.

Tech fell to the Lady Bearkats 4-1 and face top-ranked Valparaiso in the final round at the Mid-Winter Classic.

Valparaiso defeated Tech in six games to finish seventh while the Lady Techsters finished in eighth place with a 7-6 record throughout the tournament.

Tech returns to action on Feb. 3 when they travel to Texas to play in the Prairie View A&M Invitational.
