RUSTON, La. - Jamie Gilley struck out seven hitters in five innings of relief as Louisiana Tech (11-12) fell to Dallas Baptist (15-7), 11-3, in the final non-conference regular season game between the two programs on Saturday afternoon.

The Patriots are set to join the Western Athletic Conference in baseball-only at the conclusion of the 2012 season.

Redshirt junior Gilley relieved Trevor Petersen (1-3) as Petersen was credited with his third loss of the season. Petersen struggled with his command as the junior allowed three hits and six runs while walking three in 0.1 innings. Southpaw Andrew Elkins (2-0) picked up his second win of the season in four innings of work as the junior allowed just one hit, a solo home run to Alex Williams.

Williams was 1-for-5 with a solo home run as the senior first baseman hit his seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning.

Kody Neel pinch hit for Sam Alvis and went 2-for-2 from the plate with a double while second baseman Austin Hedges was 1-for-4 at the dish with a double and two RBI.

Dallas Baptist scored six runs in the first inning highlighted by a grand slam by shortstop Joel Hutter. Williams' long ball gave Tech its first run of the game in the bottom of the frame as the Bulldogs cut their deficit to 6-1.

The Patriots scored one run in the third, fourth, sixth and eighth innings, respectively, to take a 10-1 lead.

The Bulldogs scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as shortstop Ryan Gebhardt led off the frame with a single. After Williams reached base on a fielder's choice, pinch hitter Stephen Gandy singled to give Tech runners on first and second with one out. Both runners scored on a double by Hedges to cut DBU's lead to 10-3.

The Patriots added a run in the top of the ninth as Dallas Baptist took two-out-of-three games from the Bulldogs.

Left-hander Ben Carlisle pitched three innings in relief for Tech, allowing two hits while striking out one. Dakota Doss threw a scoreless 0.2 innings in his first game since March 16 at Nebraska.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday night as Tech hosts in-state rival Northwestern State on Greek Night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
