Final Stats

Shreveport, La. - Leadoff hitter Bre'shon Kimbell hit his first collegiate home run on a 3-for-5 night from the plate as the Bulldogs fell to the Gents of Centenary, 14-8, Tuesday evening.

The Bulldogs (8-6) took an early 1-0 lead after Kimbell hit a long home run to left center field on the first pitch of the game.

Shortstop Ryan Gebhardt then doubled and advanced to third on the throw and scored on an RBI groundout by senior Alex Williams.

Centenary scored eight runs on eight hits in the first two innings as the Gents took an 8-2 lead.

"They outplayed us," said head coach Wade Simoneaux. "It wasn't like the last game against Middle Tennessee where we gave the game away."

Tech scored one run in the fifth as right fielder Taylor Burch doubled down the left field line to bring up third baseman Beau Bayliss. After Bayliss grounded out, Kimbell hit a single to left field to drive in Burch.

The Gents scored one run in the fifth and five in the bottom of the sixth to take a 14-3 lead.

The Bulldogs looked to rally back from an 11-run deficit as Bayliss walked to lead off the seventh inning. Kimbell then singled for his third hit of the game to give Tech runners on first and second with no outs. After a fly out by Gebhardt, Williams singled to load the bases.

Pinch hitter Jacob Derouen popped out for the second out of the inning as second baseman Austin Hedges came up to the plate. After Bayliss scored on a wild pitch, Kimbell and Williams scored on a two-RBI double by Hedges, cutting Tech's deficit to 14-6.

Tech scored two more runs in the top of the eighth inning as Burch hit his second double of the game with one out. Kimbell walked to bring up Gebhardt and the shortstop singled to left field, driving in Burch and advanced to second on an error by the left fielder as Kimbell also came around to score as Tech cut Centenary's lead to six, 14-8.

That would be the final score as the Gents defeated the Bulldogs 14-8 in front of 1,014 fans.

Chris Sadberry picked up his first loss of the season as he fell to 2-1 while southpaw Nick Parrott picked up his first win of the season for the Gents.

Louisiana Tech returns home to host Lamar on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
