Redshirt senior Chelsea Hayes

On her 100m dash finals race:

"It was horrible. My start was horrible. From then on, I knew that it was over."

On her season overall:

"It is all from practice, working hard at practice. I am just happy that I got the chance to come here to Des Moines and place in both of my events."

On realizing the impact of setting a school record with six All-America titles:

"Not really, I am just thankful I had the opportunity to do it."

On still advancing to the U.S. Olympic Trails:

"I am very excited knowing that I could possibly make the team in the long jump and even maybe make it past the first round in the 100m dash."

On if qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trails softens the blow of a disappointing NCAA Championship performance:

"Yes and I know now that the week before I leave for the trials I am going to have to work even harder to fix everything that was wrong in my race today. I am going to work on and the same with the long jump, I am going to prepare as best I can for the Trials."

On her collegiate career coming to a close:

"I am going to miss it but at the same time I am going to have my post-collegiate career to focus on now. Just knowing that I was given the opportunity and able to compete at Louisiana Tech is something I am very thankful for."

On what she will do to improve in both events before the U.S. Olympic Trials:

"I will be watching film and working on the mistakes that I made at the NCAA meet."

On her final few jump attempts in the long jump Thursday:

"If I was able to get on the board, I think I would have done pretty well. But I just couldn't get on the board so that is something I am going to have to work on."
