Tennis Travels to Take on UALR

March 1, 2013

RUSTON -- The Louisiana Tech tennis team looks to end a three-game losing skid on Saturday as they travel to take on UALR at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Country Club.

LA Tech (1-3) came up just short this past Sunday from notching their second win of the season, dropping a 4-3 heartbreaker to Nicholls State at home.

The Lady Techsters had three singles points won and was searching for one more from either the No. 2 or the No. 6 slot.

At No. 2, Melanie Urvoy took the first set but her opponent rallied to win sets two and three, and at No. 6, Sophie Heldoorn held a 5-2 edge in the first set before her opponent mounted a strong comeback to take a straight-sets victory for the clinching point.

The doubles point has eluded LA Tech as well in all three defeats.

UALR (9-4) enters the match having just closed out a long road trip that ended with a 5-2 loss to 64th ranked Wyoming.

Veronique Luksich anchors the Lady Trojans at the No. 1 singles position where she is 8-4 on the year in dual matches.

These two teams hooked up on the courts last season with LA Tech coming away with the 5-1 win in Ruston. Current Techsters Vivian ten Dolle and Alena Erofeyeva both picked up singles wins in the victory.
