@LATechGolf Hosts Jim Rivers Intercollegiate Beginning Monday

Oct. 19, 2014 CHOUDRANT, La. - Louisiana Tech's men's golf team will close out the fall season beginning Monday as the Bulldogs host the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Country Club. The two-day, three-round tournament featuring 10 teams will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Teams and 10 individuals will play two rounds (36 holes) on Monday with a shotgun start and will wrap up action with tee times for the final round of 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

"We are excited to be hosting our annual fall tournament named after the legendary Jim Rivers and to be having these teams out at Squire Creek Country Club to showcase our incredible home golf course," Louisiana Tech head coach Jeff Jenkins said. "The course is in great shape and the weather forecast is calling for beautiful weather over the next two days which will make for the perfect setting for golf."

Louisiana Tech will be paired with North Texas and Central Arkansas on Monday, two teams that will challenge the Bulldogs over the two-day tournament.

"I am very excited about being paired with North Texas and UCA, two teams that have been some of the better programs in the region over the last several years," said Jenkins. "Also we have the opportunity to face a pair of Conference USA teams in North Texas and Southern Miss, both of whom we have faced so far this year. I am looking forward to the opportunity to compete against a pair of league teams to get a good evaluation of where we stand within the conference."

Highlighting the pairings on Monday will be Louisiana Tech's Victor Lange, Central Arkansas' Pep Angles and North Texas Juan Munoz. Angles - a native of Barcelona, Spain who played for Europe in the Walker Cup - has qualified for the NCAA Regionals the last two years and is coming off an individual title at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate on Oct. 14 while Munoz finished fourth at the Argent Financial Classic last spring at Squire Creek.

"Pep Angles represented Europe in the Walker Cup and Munoz is a very talented golfer that will go with Lange to make a great threesome on Monday," Jenkins said of the pairing that will start on the No. 1 tee Monday morning at 8 a.m. "Not only are there three very talented individuals in that threesome, they are three of the better golfers in the region."

Live scoring for the entire tournament will be available at GolfStat.com and LATechSports.com.
