Oct. 3, 2014 RUSTON, La. - Back in action for the first time after winning the team title at the Memphis Intercollegiate, Louisiana Tech will be challenged to replicate the same success as the Bulldogs travel to the David Toms Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge this weekend.
LA Tech will face a challenging field including six teams ranked ahead of Tech, led by host No. 4 LSU. Of the 12-team field at the David Toms Intercollegiate, six of those squads are ranked ahead of the Bulldogs including three teams in the top 40.
The Bulldogs are ranked No. 94 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index Rankings that came out on Oct. 1.
In addition to the host Tigers, No. 34 Winthrop and No. 38 Iowa State lead the field along with No. 55 Southeastern Louisiana. Other teams completing include Central Arkansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, Mercer, North Texas, Rice and South Alabama.
Tech will start the tournament on Saturday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and will be paired with No. 62 Southern Miss and No. 72 Mercer in the first two rounds.
The David Toms Intercollegiate marks the third fall tournament for the Bulldogs out of four tournaments on the schedule this fall in the first year under new head coach Jeff Jenkins.
