@LATechGolf Signs Three in Early Period

Nov. 21, 2014

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech head coach Jeff Jenkins announced the addition of two high school prep stars and one transfer as the Bulldog golf program signed a trio of talented newcomers during the early signing period.

Jenkins, who is in his first year as head coach at LA Tech, signed Hunter Glenn (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll HS), Jacob Wyatt (Bossier City, La./Benton HS) and Luke Neeley (Mansfield, Texas/Odessa College) to national letters of intent as the three golfers are set to join the Bulldogs next fall.

"I am very excited about this signing class with it being the first class I have ever signed here at Louisiana Tech," Jenkins said of his three signees. "I think we have three quality golfers and, more importantly, quality people that will join our program next fall."

Glenn has helped lead the Southlake Carroll Dragons to second and fourth place finishes in the 2013-14 state golf tournaments, while also earning all-district and all-region honors along the way. In his first high school season, Glenn was named Freshman of the Year, as well as earning the Dragon Heart Award and Most Valuable Player over the course of his prep career.

"Hunter Glenn is a young man I have known about for three-plus years while I was at Texas Tech, and he was a guy I followed for that entire amount of time," Jenkins said. "I know what I am going to get with a guy like Hunter Glenn. He is going to get better and better over four years."

Glenn, who also serves as a team captain for the Dragons, is expected to graduate from Southlake Carroll High School in May 2015 before making his way to Ruston to join the Bulldogs in September.

Wyatt is a product of Benton High School, where he helped the Tigers to three consecutive Division II state championships. He racked up both individual and regional championships at Benton, while also finishing tied for second in the Region I Division II tournament in 2014. Wyatt recently recorded a fifth place finish this summer in the Louisiana State Junior.

"I got to know Jacob Wyatt this summer and after he came on a visit, it became clear he was all about Louisiana Tech," Jenkins said on the local product. "Based on his performance this summer, I knew was a guy that would clearly be a contributor for our golf team."

Having made three hole-in-ones during as an amateur, Wyatt has also recorded a 73 scoring average over the course of his high school career, where the Benton senior was coached by Tim Cram.

Neeley will enroll at Tech next fall after spending this season at Odessa College, where he has helped guide the winningest junior college golf program in the nation to a No. 1 national ranking this fall. Individually, Neeley ranked 13th among all JUCO golfers after posting a 71.9 scoring average in 2014.

"Luke Neeley is another guy I followed for the last three years that ended up going to Baylor and then transferring to Odessa," Jenkins said. "After recruiting him as a junior college player this fall, it is clear he is well on his way to playing at the level he was at as a high school player. I fully expect him to step into our lineup and be an immediate impact and contributing golfer."

Prior to playing for the Odessa Wranglers, Neeley spent a season at Baylor after prepping at Mansfield High School in his hometown of Mansfield, Texas. As a prep standout, he helped lead the Hornets to the 2011 5A Texas State Championship title, while also ranking third individually throughout the district.
