Dec. 3, 2014 RUSTON - Even though the 2014 fall season has ended, the honors continue to pour in for Louisiana Tech forward Kathryn Sloan with today's announcement from the National Soccer Coaches Association of American naming the sophomore as a member of the All-Central Region Third Team.
Sloan claimed a spot on the third team after tallying 28 points on 11 goals and six assists. She ended up finishing in the top six in Conference USA in all three of those statistical categories.
"What a great achievement for Katie," head coach Kevin Sherry said. "She is in some very good company on those regional selections. She deserves the credit for all of the hard work she has put in, but any individual award is built upon the work of the team as a whole and I am proud to see LA Tech soccer being recognized."
The Kansas City, Missouri native started in 19 of 21 games and became just the third Lady Techster to reach double-digit goals in a single season while also tying the program record for most game-winning goals with five.
She was responsible for four of the eight goals scored during C-USA regular season play and earned second team All-CUSA honors as a result in helping LA Tech to a 13-6-3 overall record and its first ever postseason victory.
A total of 13 players from C-USA were named to the NSCAA Women's All-Central Regional teams.
