Sept. 17, 2014 IRVING, Texas - Louisiana Tech junior Victor Lange has been named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week Wednesday after leading the Bulldogs to the Memphis Intercollegiate team title.
Lange finished second overall as an individual with a tournament score of 4-under-par (68-72-72=212) and he hit a clutch birdie on the 18th hole during the final round to secure LA Tech's team victory.
Louisiana Tech's team score of 871 (283-293-295=871, 7-over-par) was the best team score at the Memphis Intercollegiate since Louisville shot 857 to claim the team title in 2006 and is the fourth-best team score in tournament history.
Lange was the top Conference USA golfer in the Memphis Intercollegiate field (out of four C-USA schools including Louisiana Tech) and placed second out of 75 golfers in all.
This is the second C-USA Golfer of the Week honor Lange has received in his career but the first he has claimed solo; Lange shared Co-Golfer of the Week honors with Rice's Kevin Reilly last spring after Lange tied for second at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship.
Louisiana Tech returns to action on Oct. 4-5 when the Bulldogs travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the David Toms Intercollegiate hosted by LSU.
