LA Tech Softball Releases Spring Schedule

Sept. 24, 2014

Fall/Spring Schedule

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech softball fans will have plenty of opportunities to watch their team in 2015 as the Lady Techsters schedule features 31 home games, including two tournaments and a weekend round robin.

Head coach Mark Montgomery and Co. enter the second year competing in Conference USA, returning five starters and nine letter-winners while welcoming nine newcomers to the program. The season begins with home events during three of the first four weekends of the season as well as a 24-game Conference USA slate.

"We felt it was important to play more games at home," said Tech head coach Mark Montgomery. "We want to continue to build our fan base and the best way to do that is to play more games that they can some see. We have a nice mix of veterans and newcomers on this team, and I think this is a great schedule that provides us a chance to succeed early in the year."

Tech opens the season hosting a six-team event in Ruston featuring games against ULM, Missouri State, Abilene Christian, SIUE and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. A total of 15-games will be played as the tournament starts on Thursday night with the Lady Techsters I-20 match-up against ULM and wraps up on Sunday.

After playing a mid-week game against Jackson State, the Lady Techsters will compete in the Mississippi State February Freezer, playing contests against the Starkville-based Bulldogs, Illinois, Lamar and UT-Martin.

The Lady Techsters play in-state mid-week games against LSU (Feb. 17) in Baton Rouge and Grambling State (Feb. 18) in Ruston.

Tech then hosts its second home event Feb. 20-22 as Montana, Lamar and Texas-Southern venture to Ruston for the 10-game tournament. The four teams will play a round robin over the first day and half, determining seeding for the final day and a half of the event.

Following a mid-week road game at SFA (Feb. 25), Tech hosts Detroit and Southern in a round robin event Feb. 28-March 1 as a total of six games will be played at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

Conference USA action opens the first weekend of March as a total of eight three-game series will be played over the next two months, determining the league champion as well as C-USA Tournament participants. Tech will host Conference USA series against Florida Atlantic, Charlotte, UTEP and North Texas while traveling for league games against WKU, Southern Miss, UAB and UTSA.

The Conference USA Tournament will be held May 7-9.

The Lady Techsters open their fall exhibition schedule on Friday, Oct. 3 against Bossier Parish Community College at 7 p.m. For all the latest on the Lady Techsters and all of Louisiana Tech's athletic programs, log onto LATechSports.com.
