Oct. 15, 2015 Allstate Sugar Bowl Program 
RUSTON, La. - Fourth year head coach Jerry Miles and the Louisiana Tech Bowling team is set to begin the 2015-16 season by competing against a star-studded field at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational this weekend at AMF All Star Lanes in Kenner, Louisiana.
The tournament, which is hosted by Tulane for the fourth straight year, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday and run through Sunday afternoon.
LA Tech will compete against 14 other Division I bowling programs, including nine teams that enter the season-opening tournament nationally ranked in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Preseason Poll. Among the teams Tech will face are Nebraska (No. 1), the defending national champion, and Stephen F. Austin (No. 3), which was runner-up to the Cornhuskers in last year's title matchup.
Other nationally ranked teams the Lady Techsters will compete against this weekend include Arkansas State (No. 2), Vanderbilt (No. 5), Sam Houston State (No. 6), North Carolina A&T (No. 10), Tulane (No. 19), Prairie View A&M (No. 21) and Alabama State (No. 25). Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, Jackson State, Southern and Texas Southern will also participate in the three-day invitational.
The tournament begins at 9 a.m. Friday with 6x5 Baker matches scheduled before the field competes in six team games throughout the day Saturday. The weekend wraps up with bracket play beginning at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Lady Techsters welcome back five returners from a year ago in juniors Harley DeKeyzer and Shelby Smith as well as sophomores Kelsey Calzaretta, Sarah McComic and Lindsey Rosen. In addition to the experienced bowlers returning to the 2015-16 squad, Miles also added two freshmen to the roster in Victoria Browder and Kendall Hickman.
