AUBURN, Ala. ââ'¬" Five Louisiana Tech players have posted at least two wins and advanced to day three of the ITA Southern Regionals hosted by Auburn University at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.

One of the five Lady Techsters is senior Manoela Chiacchio who defeated UAB's Sophie Dodds, 6-4, 6-1, on Saturday to move on to the semifinals of the singles B draw.

She has also teamed up with senior Taly Merker to notch three dominating victories, including an 8-4 win over Isla Brock and Laia Charles of Nicholls State to reach the finals of the doubles B draw.

LA Tech also has another player in Zoe Chen who is on the opposite side of Chiacchio in the semifinals. The freshman took down Ole Miss' Allie Robbins in the round of 32, 6-4, 6-3, and continued her strong play with two more straight-set wins.

Two other Techsters ââ'¬" Jazmin Britos and Alba Escalona Perny ââ'¬" moved on to day three in the consolation bracket in singles.

Britos rebounded from an opening round loss to dispose of Jacksonville State's Genevie Ulanday, 6-1, 6-2. A withdraw due to injury by her next opponent advanced Britos to the consolation quarterfinals of the singles A draw.

Perny overpowered Sofia Bianno of Auburn, 6-3, 6-1, before falling in her next match. She then advanced a round due to withdraw and followed that up with a 6-1, 6-1 win to reach the consolation semifinals of the singles B draw.

Also posting impressive victories were Alexandra Starkova who bested LSU's Ella Taylor in three sets and Marta Sramkova who outlasted Samford's Canta Moolman in a third-set tiebreaker.

Play continues tomorrow with first serve set for 8 a.m.
