RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech head golf coach Jeff Jenkins announced Thursday that Karsten Green has signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period to play for the Bulldogs.

A native of Midlothian, Texas, Green chose to play at Louisiana Tech over Baylor, Texas Tech and Oklahoma as he set a school record for a low round last spring with a 5-under- par 67. Green recorded a 72.4 average round last year with eight rounds under par.

"I am really excited that Karsten is choosing to become a member of the LA Tech Family," Louisiana Tech head coach Jeff Jenkins said. "I have been watching him play for over three years and he has continuously improved. He brings a lot of things to the table and will impact our culture in a positive way. Karsten has proven over the last few years that he will do what it takes to reach his full potential."

He is a two-time first team all-district honoree and led Midlothian High School to a district title last spring. Green was also recognized on the All-Honor Team his sophomore and junior years by the North Texas High School Golf Coaches Association.

"In Karsten I see a guy who will be a big addition to our program from a leadership perspective, on the course, off the course and in the classroom," Jenkins said. "Day-in and day-out we will be able to depend on him to turn in a good score for the team. He isn't flashy but is consistent, gritty and will fight for every shot."

Green comes from a golf family as his father, Brett, played professionally from 1990 to 1995 after a four-year collegiate career at UT Arlington.

"His dad has been his coach and teacher to this point and that is why Karsten has such a high golf IQ," Jenkins said.

After his expected graduation from Midlothian in the spring, Green will join the Bulldog program for the 2016-17 season.
