RUSTON, La. - Krysta Tutsch hit her eighth home run of the season - this one a grand slam as part of a seven-run second inning - as Louisiana Tech topped Lyon, 8-0, in five innings in the first game of a doubleheader at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

Katie Smith led LA Tech (14-5) from the plate with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBI while Tutsch's lone hit was the grand slam.

Bianca Duran (9-5) was credited with the shutout win after allowing only two hits and no walks in five innings in the circle. Ashten Welch (3-3) was charged with the loss after allowing eight runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out one.

Lyon (5-7) only had three runners reach base in the game, stranding two after Louisiana Tech turned a double play in the fifth inning.
