March 23, 2015 RUSTON - Louisiana Tech begins an eight-game home-stand Tuesday at 5 p.m. when the Lady Techster host Southeastern Louisiana in a mid-week non-conference game at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
LA Tech (19-8) enters the contest after sweeping Southern Mississippi in a three-game Conference USA series in Hattiesburg this past weekend - the first road conference sweep since taking all three at Seattle in the final series of the 2013 season.
With the three wins, LA Tech has already equaled its win total from last year.
The Lady Techsters boast 34 home runs on the season - the second most of any Conference USA team and enter Tuesday night's game with a current streak of 11 straight games with at least one home run. The program record for consecutive games with a home run is 12 set by the 2009 team, the same team that set the single season record of 59 home runs.
Offensively, Krysta Tutsch (.371, 9 HR, 26 RBI), Pauline Tufi (.250, 7 HR, 21 RBI), Bianca Duran (.353, 6 HR, 27 RBI) and Anna Cross (.341, 4 HR, 20 RBI) are Tech's top power threats. Tori Charters (.397, 17 runs), Karlee Jensen (.368, 11 runs, 13 RBI), Kristen Miles (.344, 17 runs) and Katie Smith (.284, 12 runs) have also been consistently productive at the plate.
In the circle, Duran (11-6, 2.77 ERA) is coming off an impressive week that saw her allow only four runs and 17 hits in 21 innings of action. Tufi (3-0, 5 saves, 2.15 ERA), Bailey Allen (3-1, 2.25 ERA) and Carolina Sanchez (2-1, 3.40 ERA) could also see time in the circle against the Lions.
Southeastern Louisiana (12-16) has won five of its last six games with the lone loss coming to Top 25 Mississippi State.
The Lions are led by Katie Lacour (.480, 27 runs), Sydney Booker (.341, 6 HR, 33 RBI), Kinsey Nichols (.333, 23 runs, 12 RBI), and Megan Moore (.330).
In the circle, Southeastern relies on Taylor Bishop (8-3, 2.49 ERA), Tori Stamper (2-3, 4.20) and Nicole Ayala (2-3, 4.93).
Tech leads the all-time series 45-15, including a 7-0 win in Hammond last season.
