Head Coach Jeff Jenkins

On Victor's opening round

"Victor got off to a great start with a couple of good saves on the first two holes then came back with a couple of birdies in a row. He made the turn after nine at three-under. I will say that the front nine presents more opportunities for birdies and is certainly more score-able. Then the back nine is certainly more difficult and while you don't want to drop a shot or two it certainly happens on the back nine."

On knowledge of The Rawls Course:

"It was what I expected but you are always learning. The golf course is softer than it normally is so you have to make an adjustment there. As far as what we were expecting for pin locations, wind, softness, it was kind of what I expected."

On Lange being five shots back:

"Great start, very solid and he is in a good position. If he keeps hitting shots the way he is hitting and rolling the putts the way he is rolling them, he can post a really good score on this golf course. I think he is in a really good position."

On the wind increasing throughout the day:

"Typically, that is what you expect. Having the first tee time is normally an advantage. The wind did pick up for us and started to switch on the back nine. I think it is advantage teeing off early but I think Victor handled his tee time, his draw as they say, really well."

On advice for the second round:

"He just has to keep doing the same thing he always does -- remain patient, make good shots and have really good routine and let the results take care of themselves. If he continues to go with his same routine, the scores will be good enough."

Junior Victor Lange

On his opening round at the Lubbock Regional:

I had a good front nine, it was fairly clinical while the back nine was more of a grind. Unfortunately I dropped two in the end but it was still a good round and a good start and I am in position to do well still.

On confidence level:

"I feel fairly confident. I know where my game is at, I know how I am hitting it and I am just going to review my game plan to see how I did and where I can improve for tomorrow. But I am fairly confident. I think the wind is going to be slightly stronger tomorrow which is going to work to my advantage."

On if course plays to his advantage:

"I think it does play to my advantage, 100 percent. I really enjoy playing in the wind, I enjoy controlling my trajectory. When the wind gets up, it is only going to be more of an advantage for me. I am looking forward to tomorrow. It was a good, solid round to start with today."

On par-saving shot on hole two providing momentum early on:

"Oh definitely, it got me started really. I went back-to-back birdies after that and the momentum was in my favor. That really got me started."

On back-to-back bogeys late if it was nature of course, part of fatigue or both:

"It was slightly unfortunate, to be honest with you. On 16, I caught the green and ran into the bunker and on 17 I hit it about three yards right of the fairway and into some of the worst rough on the course. It was slightly unfortunate but slightly off-line as well. I guess it is a bit of both there."

"I am just taking the positives out of today. There were just a couple of unfortunate unforced errors and hopefully I won't do that tomorrow."

On his approach for Friday:

"Whether you are three over or three under, you can only hit the golf shot that is in front of you as best as you can. I guess it just is what it is. I will just try to execute every golf shot as well as I can tomorrow."
