Oct. 29, 2016 SPRINGFIELD, Mo. ââ'¬" The Louisiana Tech tennis team put together its most consistent performance of the fall in their last tournament of the season, claiming two titles and four runner-up finishes on Saturday in the MSU Fall Invite at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
Playing in her first tourney as a Lady Techster, junior Angela Lorenzo won in a 10-point tiebreaker in the third set to grab the Flight three singles title. Another fellow newcomer, freshman Nadja Manjon, was the other singles winner coming in Flight two.
"We had some great results this tournament," head coach Amanda Stone said. "Everyone played at a very consistent level the whole weekend. It is great to see us implementing what we have been working on in practice and being successful as a result.
"I am really proud of what we have accomplished this fall. We do still have a lot that we can build on as we now prepare for the spring season."
Lorenzo ended up cruising into the finals of Flight three with wins of 6-1, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-1. The transfer from the University of Houston was then able to outlast Mila Majtan of SEMO in the finals by a score of 6-1, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7).
