Dec. 21, 2016 NATCHITOCHES, La. - Louisiana Tech sophomore Manoah Kiptum closed out an impressive cross country season by being named to the All-Louisiana team, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) announced.
Kiptum was Louisiana Tech's top finisher in every event the Bulldogs competed in this season, including three top 10 finishes and placing inside the top 30 in every race. The sophomore from Eldoret, Kenya, placed inside the top five on three separate occasions and inside the top 20 individually four times.
Kiptum earned second team all-conference honors from Conference USA following his performance at the 2016 C-USA Cross Country Championships in November.
In addition to Kiptum being named to the all-state team, sophomore runner Kacie Kaufman was named honorable mention all-state by the LSWA.
Kaufman was LA Tech's top finisher on the women's side in all four meets she competed in on the season, while she placed first in Tech's lone home meet, the Mook Triple-Duals. In addition to earning honorable mention all-Louisiana, Kaufman was also named to the C-USA Cross Country All-Academic team in November.
