KENNESAW, Ga. ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech made it a road weekend sweep on Sunday afternoon as the Lady Techsters downed Kennesaw State, 5-2, at the Betty Siegel Student Recreation and Activities Center.

A day after claiming the program's first ever win over a nationally-ranked opponent, LA Tech (12-3) dug deep to win the doubles point and four singles matches to make the team victorious in eight of the last nine games.

"It was difficult for us to play at the same intensity and quality as yesterday against a tough KSU team," head coach Chad Camper said. "As the match unfolded, we hit our stride and came up with shots we needed. Alexandra and Jazmin winning so fast gave us some momentum.

"Overall, this was a great weekend for LA Tech tennis. Going 2-0 for the weekend and beating a nationally-ranked team still has the thrill today as it did yesterday. The team is looking forward to a few days off as the next few matches will be very challenging as well."

Even though it was the first official day of spring, it was a chilly day on the courts. The Techsters overcame the cold weather and got the 1-0 advantage with Alexandra Starkova and Zoe Chen teaming up to win 6-2 on court one and the duo of Jazmin Britos and Marta Sramkova grabbing a 6-3 victory on court two.

Starkova and Britos quickly made it a 3-0 advantage for LA Tech. At the No. 1 position, Starkova defeated Laura Hopton, 6-2, 6-2 while Britos bested Cristina Martin, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.

The clincher then came from court five as Manoela Chiacchio came back from a set down to outlast Ashleigh De Wet, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Kennesaw State (1-11) picked up two points from courts three and six while Alba Escalona Perny provided an insurance point with a 10-5 edge in the third set super breaker at the No. 4 position.

LA Tech returns to action on Saturday, March 26 when it plays at SMU. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
