Errors Cost Bulldogs in 7-4 Loss to Charlotte

Box Score March 26, 2016

Final Stats

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech committed five errors as a team and Charlotte put together a five-run fourth inning as the 49ers took the series finale, 7-4, over the Bulldogs Saturday at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston.

Despite the loss, LA Tech (13-7, 3-3 C-USA) won the series over Charlotte (12-12, 3-3 C-USA) with back-to-back wins on Thursday and Friday.

Charlotte took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of Saturday's contest, but it was the fourth inning that doomed the Bulldogs as the Niners scored five runs on four hits while also taking advantage of two LA Tech errors to jump out to a 6-0 lead early on. LA Tech scored four runs in the last four innings but it was not enough to complete the comeback.

Braden Bristo started for the Bulldogs and was charged with the loss after allowing four runs ââ'¬" three earned ââ'¬" on two hits and four walks. Bristo (2-2) pitched three innings and faced three batters in the fourth before leaving the game with the bases loaded and no outs. Nate Harris came in and allowed two unearned runs on four hits before Cameron Linck pitched the next 2.1 innings and allowing one unearned run. Graham Ahlrich and Zack Hamilton combined to hold Charlotte scoreless in the final three innings on the mound.

Charlotte starter Josh Maciejewski (3-2) picked up the win on the mound after the lefthander allowed three runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings of work. Brandon Vogler and Jacob Craver combined to pitch the seventh inning for the Niners before Micah Wells and Holden Capps closed out the final two innings of the game.

Louisiana Tech totaled nine hits on the afternoon with Cody Daigle leading the way with a 3-for-4 day at the plate. Daigle doubled, drove in a run and scored one himself while also drawing a walk. J.D. Perry also contributed by going a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Matt Holcombe, Taylor Love and Chase Lunceford also drove in a run for the Bulldogs on the day. LA Tech continues its home stand with a pair of midweek games against Grambling State and McNeese State. The Bulldogs host the Tigers at 6 p.m. Tuesday before taking on McNeese at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Ruston.
