June 15, 2016 RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech head coach Chad Camper announced Wednesday the addition of Angela Lorenzo, a transfer from the University of Houston, who has signed a financial aid agreement to play for the Lady Techsters starting this fall.
Lorenzo joins Nadja Manjon and Jill van den Dungen as the newest members of the LA Tech tennis team, bolstering a recruiting class that was recently ranked as No. 14 in the country among mid-majors.
"We are excited to have Angela as a Lady Techster for this upcoming season," Camper said. "Her experience will be needed and I know she is eager to contribute. There is great success building in the program right now and she will fit right in to help us continue that success."
The Spanish native spent the past two years at UH where she compiled a singles record of 21-13 while being ranked individually as high as No. 108 by the ITA.
Lorenzo helped the Cougars to a runner-up finish at the 2015 American Athletic Conference championship as well as an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Houston finished the year ranked No. 34 in the country while also setting program records with an 18-match winning streak and 11 wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
That same season, she registered an 18-4 singles mark which tied for the fifth-highest winning percentage in UH single season history.
Lorenzo becomes the third Spaniard on the team along with Alba Escalona Perny and Manjon. Prior to Houston, she was ranked as high as No. 41 in the Spanish Women's Open rankings.
