Jan. 18, 2017

Spring Schedule

RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech women's tennis head coach Amanda Stone announced on Wednesday the 2017 spring schedule which consists of 22 matches, beginning with a doubleheader on Jan. 20 in Stillwater, Oklahoma versus Oral Roberts and OK State.

LA Tech will have four home matches while also taking on six opponents who were nationally-ranked to end last season, one of which is OK State who enters 2017 ranked No. 5 in the preseason Oracle/ITA national rankings.

"The team is very motivated and ready to start competing again," said Stone who enters her first spring at the helm. "We made a lot of progress this fall by cutting down unforced errors and playing more disciplined. We have added some high level matches on this schedule that will test us early and throughout the spring. We are taking on some of the best teams in the country and I am really excited to see how we respond."

The Lady Techsters will next travel to face Texas A&M on Jan. 25 before having their home opener on Jan. 29 against Sam Houston State.

LA Tech then heads to Birmingham to take on Conference USA foe UAB and Samford on Feb. 4 and 5, respectively, followed by a home matchup with in-state foe McNeese State on Feb. 11.

The team will then play its next six matches on the road against Northwestern State, Incarnate Word, Texas State, Missouri, South Alabama and ULM.

The month of March closes out with two home games against Grambling State and Stephen F. Austin as well as a neutral site match against Alcorn State in Vicksburg, Mississippi and a road match at SMU.

The Lady Techsters will then travel to New Orleans to play at Tulane on April 1 and league opponent Middle Tennessee on April 2.

The next two weekends will be spent in the Lone Star State with matches at TCU and Tyler Junior College and at Rice in the regular season finale on the 15th.

The C-USA Tournament begins on April 20 and will be hosted by North Texas in Denton, Texas.
