LA Tech Finishes Fall Season on High Note

Oct. 29, 2017

HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- The Louisiana Tech women's tennis team won 10 out of 13 matches combined between singles and doubles to round out its fall schedule on Sunday in the Bearkat Invitational at the McAdams Tennis Center.

For the entire tournament, facing the host Sam Houston State as well as UTSA and UT Rio Grande Valley, LA Tech went 14-7 in singles action and 5-4 in doubles.

"I'm really pleased with the progress we've made as a team," head coach Amanda Stone said. "Sonia and Angela had awesome fall seasons and were great leaders on the court this weekend. I really liked the format of the tournament because it was very similar to the dual matches we will play in the spring and that was good for our freshmen to experience.

"This has been the tournament all along that we really wanted to measure out improvement as a team. The competition level was similar to the ULM Invite and by direct comparison, we were night and day better. I'm happy that all the players came away with wins and can continue to build confidence."
