Oct. 5, 2017 RUSTON – The level of competition ramps up for the Louisiana Tech women's tennis team this weekend as they travel to Waco, Texas to participate in the Under Armour/HEB Invitational at the Hurd Tennis Center.
LA Tech will be facing a strong field that includes the host Baylor, as well as Mississippi State, LSU, Kentucky, Houston, TCU and Tyler Junior College.
Five of the programs competing finished last season ranked in the top 30 in the country, led by the Bears who were No. 17. There is also Tyler JC who won its 18th NJCAA national championship last season.
Play is projected to start around 8:30 a.m. All seven Lady Techsters are set to compete in singles. They will also have three doubles teams competing – Nadja Manjon/Sonia Chen, Angela Lorenzo/Claudia Oravcova and Karla De La Luz Montalvo/Andrea Perez-Lopez.
The junior Chen looks to continue her strong start to the fall schedule after claiming the Flight 2 singles title at the Warhawk Invitational.
