LA Tech 5, Missouri State 4

With the bases loaded and only one out in the top of the seventh, Louisiana Tech shortstop Katie Smith turned a 6-3 game-ending double play to end the threat and seal the 5-4 win by the Lady Techsters.

Tech entered the seventh with a two-run lead before Missouri State rallied. With one out and a runner on first in the final frame, Tech starter Preslee Gallaway was lifted for Krystal De La Cruz. De La Cruz walked the first batter and then surrendered an RBI double to Mary Stephens, cutting the Tech advantage to 5-4. Tech then intentionally walked clean-up hitter Kaitlin Beason to load the bases.

Missouri State catcher Darian Frost then hit a hard ground ball up the middle that Smith snared, stepped on second base for the force and then tossed to first to easily retire Frost for the final out.

After the Bears took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Tech responded. Jazlyn Crowder singled and moved to second base on a ground out. Morgan Turkoly then singled to drive home Crowder with the tying run.
