Feb. 16, 2017 RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech Golf team is set travel to Humble, Texas, this weekend to compete in the 2017 All-American Intercollegiate, presented by Coca-Cola and hosted by the University of Houston and Rice.
The tournament begins Friday, Feb. 17 and continues through Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Golf Club of Houston's Tournament Course (Par 72). The 54-hole tournament will span three days with 18 holes scheduled for each day.
LA Tech will compete in an 18-team field that includes some of the top-ranked golf teams in the nation according to the latest GolfStat rankings, including No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 13 Baylor and No. 21 Auburn. The Bulldogs will also compete against fellow Conference USA members Charlotte, Rice and UTSA in this weekend's tournament.
The five Bulldogs representing Louisiana Tech this weekend at the All-American Intercollegiate include, senior Charles Neel White, sophomore Hunter Glenn and three freshmen in Joacim Ahlund, Karsten Green and Felix Palson. In the opening round of play, LA Tech will be paired with Houston Baptist and Samford.
This weekend will mark LA Tech's first action on the course since Jan. 24 when the Bulldogs traveled to Tucson, Arizona, to play in the Arizona Intercollegiate. In that tournament, LA Tech finished 15th overall, while White and Ahlund led the team by each shooting a three-round total of 225 to finish tied for 34th in the field.
