AUSTIN ââ'¬"Preslee Gallaway pitched six shutout innings and Marilyn Rizzato hit her first collegiate home run to lead Louisiana Tech to the 8-0 win in six innings over the Hoosiers in the first game of the day.

Tech plated runs in five of its six frames while Gallaway and the Lady Techster defense shut down Indiana all day.

The Lady Techsters scored two runs in the top of the first inning, capitalizing on three walks and just one hit. Rizzato drove in the first run by drawing a bases loaded walk and then Ali Galaz drove home the second run with an RBI groundout as the Lady Techsters took the early lead.

Indiana threatened in the bottom of the first inning. With runners on second and third and one out, Tech second baseman Karlee Jensen snared a line drive and flipped it to shortstop Katie Smith on second to end the inning.

Jensen walked with one out in the top of the second inning and then scored on Jazlyn Crowder's triple to right centerfield, upping the Tech advantage to 3-0. Morgan Turkoly then followed with an infield single scoring Crowder from third as Tech led 4-0. Rizzato put Tech on the scoreboard again in the third inning with a solo home run over the left field fence.

Tech plated two unearned runs in the fourth inning as Crowder walked and came around to score on a throwing error by the Hoosier's catcher and then Tori Charters scored on a fielding error by the Indiana third baseman. Tech led 7-0.

Indiana put the first two runners on base in its half of the fourth, but once again Gallaway was up to the task, retiring three straight batters to keep the six-run lead intact.

The Lady Techsters scored their final run in the top of the sixth inning as Turkoly singled anda then scored on Taria Page's RBI double to left centerfield.

Gallaway (3-1) picked up the win, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings while allowing six hits and no walks and striking out three.

Offensively, Tech was led by Crowder (2-3, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Charters (1-3, 2 runs), Turkoly (2-3, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Page (1-2, 1 RBI), Rizzato (1-3, 1 run, 2 RBI), and Jensen (run).
