Box Score April 1, 2017

Final Stats

RUSTON, La. - In his first career start, Nate Harris went the distance and Colby Hamilton drove in five runs as Louisiana Tech took the series finale 6-0 against UTSA on Saturday night at J.C. Love Field.

After Louisiana Tech dropped the first game of the doubleheader 8-4, the Diamond 'Dogs turned to Harris looking to win the series finale and the senior delivered.

Harris went nine innings on Saturday night, allowing just four hits, no walks, no runs and eight strikeouts, to pick up his third win of the season.

Joining Harris in the headlines was catcher Colby Hamilton who made the most of an opportunity to start the second game of the double header. In his first at bat of the game, Hamilton gave the 'Dogs a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly to right field.

It was in his second at-bat, that Hamilton delivered the big blow. The senior took a 1-0 pitch and put it off of the scoreboard in right field for a three-run home run that gave the 'Dogs a 4-0 lead. The three-run show was the first career home run for Hamilton.

Hamilton picked up two hits on the day, joined by Raphael Gladu in the multi-hit category. Gladu was 3-for-3 on the day, while also scoring two runs.

Hamilton and Jonathan Washam each drove in a run in the fifth inning to finish off the scoring.

While the Louisiana Tech bats went to work, Nate Harris shut the Roadrunner bats down. UTSA did not collect their first hit off of Harris until the top of the sixth inning.

Louisiana Tech now gears up for two midweek games starting with Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday night at the Love Shack at 6 p.m. Following the rematch with the 'Jacks, LA Tech will start an eight-game road-swing that kicks off on Wednesday night in Lake Charles against McNeese State.

In game one, UTSA got their bats going early and never looked back, taking the first game of the double-header 8-4.

LA Tech was led by Brent Diaz and Sean Ullrich who each notched a couple of hits in the game. Jordan Washam drove home two runs as well.

Matt Miller shined in relief, tossing the final three innings and allowing just a lone hit.

Each team scored a run in the first inning on solo home runs, with Louisiana Tech's coming from Brent Diaz.

The Roadrunners weren't done though and tacked on two more runs in the top of the second, to which LA Tech responded with just one run.

While the Bulldog bats went cold, UTSA continued to add to their lead, extending it to as much as 8-2 in the seventh inning.

Jordan Washam hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to right field and in the ninth inning, another run came home in the ninth on a fielders choice from Washam.
