Nate Harris was Nate Harris on the mound, while the Louisiana Tech (26-14, 7-10 C-USA) bats went to work early on their way to a 10-2 victory over UAB (18-21, 6-11 C-USA) on Saturday afternoon at J.C. Love Field.

"I am proud of our guys for responding," head coach Lane Burroughs said. "Last night was a tough one, but today they put us in position to win a conference series at home. We have not done that yet this year, so we are looking forward to tomorrow and coming out and competing with energy. You have got to bring it every day. That is a good ball club over there and we need to do everything we can to come out tomorrow and win this series."

Harris tossed seven innings and allowed just a lone run, while striking out five. That run didn't come until the seventh inning, with the game already in hand for the Bulldogs.

Offensively, Colby Hamilton shined for the Diamond 'Dogs. Hamilton, who has become a mainstay behind the plate for Nate Harris, went three-for-four at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored.

Raphael Gladu found himself on base via a hit four times today for the second time already this season. Gladu was four-for-five at the plate and drove in three runs as well. Gladu also achieved that mark in series finale at Rice two weeks ago.

Amazingly, there was another Bulldog who reached base on Saturday afternoon more than Gladu. Sean Ullrich reached base in all five of his plate appearances in the win. Ullrich, who scored two runs, picked up a hit, walked three times and was hit by a pitch. His lone hit was a double down the left field line.

Jonathan Washam drove in two runs in the win, on his first home run of the season. The senior launched a two-run shot over the left field wall that put Louisiana Tech up 10-0.

Nate Harris picked up his fifth win of the season and Louisiana Tech is now 4-0 in games started by Nate Harris this season. The Bulldogs are 15-1 this season in games Harris has made an appearance in.

Zack Hamilton and Graham Ahlrich pitched the final two innings of Saturday's contest and each struck out a Blazer in an inning pitched.

"Hats off to Nate for gutting it out and getting us deep into the ball game," Burroughs continued. "We turned it over to the bullpen and Ahlrich was good. We had some big hits today. The guys drove the ball over the park. It was good to see Jonathan Washam finally get a home run. He nearly ripped my hand off coming around third."

The Bullodgs scored all of their runs in consecutive innings with two runs in the third, five runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth and then two final runs in the sixth inning.

Cam Linck will get the start for the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon and he'll be opposed by UAB right-hander Carson Jones. First pitch on Sunday is set for 1 p.m. and the game will be streamed to CUSA.TV and broadcast on ESPN 97.7 FM.
