McNeese Rallies to Down Bulldogs, 5-3

Box Score April 5, 2017

Final Stats

LAKE CHARLES, La. - With the wind howling at Joe Miller Ballpark, Louisiana Tech couldn't hang on to an early lead as McNeese rallied to defeat the Bulldogs 5-3 on Wednesday night in Lake Charles.

Louisiana Tech got the scoring started early with a three-run frame in the top of the first. Jordan Washam opened the game with a leadoff single and that was followed by an RBI-double from Brent Diaz, which gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Most fans hadn't even found their seats yet, but Louisiana Tech wasn't done yet. An RBI-single from Raphael Gladu scored Diaz and Sean Ullrich capped off the inning with an RBI-double to the gap in right-center.

Unfortunately for the 'Dogs, the bats went silent from that point. Louisiana Tech would only have three hits over the final eight innings. McNeese took advantage and slowly chipped away at the Louisiana Tech lead with a run in the first inning and sixth inning.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Cowboys got a leadoff single and attempted to move Will Fox into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, but an error gave McNeese two on with one out.

After an RBI-single tied it, Ricky Ramirez flied out to center and the sacrifice fly gave McNeese their first lead of the game at 4-3.

McNeese added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth on a solo home run from Matt Gallier.

Cam Linck got the start for the Bulldogs and went three innings, allowing just one run. Linck struck out two Cowboys and only allowed two hits.

Kyle Griffen made his first appearance for the Bulldogs, going 2.1 innings where he struck out one and allowed just a lone run.

Louisiana Tech will get back into Conference USA action, beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m. against Rice in Houston. Friday night's game will be broadcast on ESPN 97.7. FM and streamed on CUSA.TV.
