March 13, 2018 RUSTON, La. ââ'¬" After playing 21 of its first 25 games on the road this year, Louisiana Tech begins a five-game home stand Wednesday when the Lady Techsters host NAIA foe LSU-Alexandria at 6 p.m. at the Lady Techster Softball Complex. Admission is free.
Tech (12-13, 2-1 C-USA) is coming off the opening weekend of Conference USA play that saw it win two out of three games at Middle Tennessee, handing the Blue Raiders (17-8, 1-2) only their third and fourth losses in their last 19 games.
Wednesday's match-up against LSU-Alexandria (9-5) begins a stretch of five games in Ruston over the next eight days. Tech will host a huge Conference USA series Saturday and Sunday against FIU in a rematch of last year's Conference USA Tournament championship game. Tech also hosts Northwestern State March 21.
Morgan Turkoly (.378, 6 doubles, 8-11 SB), Sloane Stewartson (.347, 4 RBI), Bayli Simon (.261, 2 doubles), Katie Smith (.224, 10 RBI, 9-9 SB), and Taria Page (.208, 3 HR, 11 RBI) lead Louisiana Tech offensively although the Lady Techsters sport only a .229 team batting average thus far this season.
In the circle, Tech is led by Preslee Gallaway (6-4, 2.21 ERA), Jenny Chapman (0-0, 1.31 ERA), Jensen Howell (3-3, 3.39 ERA), Bailey Allen (2-1, 3.63 ERA) and Krystal De La Cruz (1-5, 3.94 ERA) as the team sports a 2.92 earned run average.
LSU-Alexandria enters the contest with a team batting average of .343 led by Alexis Hagan (.524, 18 runs), Kimberly Gruehl (.442, 14 runs), Bailey McCleary (.395, 11 RBI), Lauren Rachal (.354, 13 RBI) and PJ Leon (.351, 14 RBI).
McKell Marble (7-2, 1.56 ERA) and Abbey McMillian (2-2, 2.95 ERA) are the top two arms in the circle for LSU-Alexandria.
