CLINTON, Miss. –
William Harrell and
Cooper Krenkels led the Louisiana Tech men's cross country team to a second place finish at the Watson Invitational hosted by Mississippi College Saturday at Choctaw Trails.
Riley Killian placed the Lady Techsters with her second top 10 finish of the fall season.
Harrell finished the 8k race in sixth place with a time of 25:41.65 while Krenkels placed 13
th with a time of 25:53.07 as Tech recorded a team total of 79 points, finishing second to Houston Baptist (66) in the 20-team event.
"I thought the teams raced hard," said Tech head coach
Gary Stanley. "Cooper had a nice breakthrough and William was rolling. Riley just needs to go out a little harder on the first mile and she will become a very tough competitor."
On the men's side, the Bulldogs were also paced by

In addition to Tech and Houston Baptist, the finish included Mississippi College (98), Southeastern Louisiana (104), West Alabama (128), Loyola-New Orleans (135), Northwestern State (234), Southern (245), Spring Hill (263), Jackson State (272), Blue Mountain (295), Milsaps (309), UL-Monroe (312), Martin Methodist (348), Meridian CC (375), UT Tyler (414), Belhaven (484), Mississippi University for Women (552), Arkansas Monticello (569), and Stillman (599).
Riley Killian finished 10
th to lead the Lady Techsters in the 6k race with a time of 23:23.29 followed by
Emily Milbourn (50
th/25:07.29),
Bethanie Dunn (65
th/25:42.0),
Brianna Hood (73
rd/26:02.29),
Elise Bordlee (77
th/26:11.73), and Jacquelin Laberteaux (96
th/27:11.96).
Tech finished with a team total of 226, finishing ahead of Northwestern State (288), Delta State (318), West Alabama (357), Arkansas-Monticello (432), Martin Methodist (446), Tougaloo (528), and LeMoyne-Owen (529). Houston Baptist won the event with a team total of 66 followed by Southeastern Louisiana (91), Mississippi College (96), Jackson State (131) and Alabama A&M (159).
Both teams will now prepare for the Conference USA Championships on Nov. 2 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
