RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech sophomore
William Harrell was named the Conference USA Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week Tuesday following his performance in the Mook Four this past weekend.
Harrell led the Bulldogs to a team victory in the six-team event. The Texarkana, Texas, native finished second out of 40 competitors in the four-mile race with a time of 20:54.7.
The finish was the best of Harrell's collegiate career, surpassing a seventh place finish in last year's Challenge of Champions. His time was also almost a full minute fast than his time in the same event (same course) from his freshman season.
The Bulldogs won the meet with a team total of 32.
Harrell will lead the Bulldogs in the Arkansas Chili Pepper Invitational Oct. 5 in Fayetteville.
