RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech fans are invited to attend a joint Bulldog Baseball/Lady Techster Softball Fan Day, set for Saturday, February 1 at 1 p.m. at Field B5 of the Ruston Sports Complex.
The hour-long event is free to the general public. It will include inflatable games, interactive baseball and softball drill stations, and an autograph session with the team and coaches at the end of the event. Those attending the fan fest will receive a coupon for a $5 ticket to the Bulldog basketball game against Old Dominion that tips at 4 p.m. that same day.
Season tickets for Bulldog baseball will be on sale at the event (admission for all Lady Techster softball games in Ruston is free).
The Lady Techsters are coming off a 45-win season that saw the program capture its first regular season conference title and its second C-USA Tournament title. Tech advanced to the Baton Rouge Regional, its second regional appearance in the past three years.
New head coach
Maria Winn-Ratliff and Co. will open the 2020 season by hosting the Big Easy Tournament in Metairie, La. on Feb. 7-9. The Lady Techsters first game in Ruston – all home games will be at the Ruston Sports Complex – will be Feb. 11 when ULM makes the short trip west for an I-20 showdown.
The Bulldogs have won 30-plus games in each of the last four years and augmented an accomplished group of returners with several talented newcomers for the 2020 season. The 2019 Diamond Dogs finished 34-24 including wins over No. 10 Arkansas, No. 15 LSU, and No. 24 Florida Atlantic.
Tech opens its season in Lafayette with a Feb. 15 doubleheader against in-state foes UL-Lafayette and Southeastern Louisiana. The Bulldogs first home games will be a four-game series Feb. 28 – March 1 against Maine at Ruston High School's field, which is located on the south side of the Ruston Sports Complex.
