RUSTON– The Louisiana Sportswriters Association (LSWA) named
Parker Bates its baseball Player of the Month for his performance in February.
Bates put together a scorching start to the season by slashing .378/.510/.784 (BA/OBP/SLG) in February. The senior centerfielder led Louisiana Tech with four home runs, 14 hits and 15 RBI in February as the Bulldogs jumped out to an 9-3 start.
The Tyler, Texas-native has also worked 6 walks and was hit 5 times while striking out just 5 times in 37 total at-bats. His five HBPs put Bates within two of the career record, which is held by
Brent Diaz (33 – 2015-17)
Bates and the Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday at Sam Houston State. The Bulldogs and Bearkats square off at 6:30 p.m.
