LA Tech Baseball Continues Road Stretch at UL-Lafayette on Tuesday

LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana Tech's baseball team continues its road stretch in Southern Louisiana with a Tuesday night matchup at UL-Lafayette. Tuesday's game against the Ragin' Cajuns is set to begin at 6 p.m. in M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

The Bulldogs enter Tuesday's game with two matchups under their belt, splitting a pair of games at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge. Tech scored its second most runs in a season opener in program history in an 18-1 triumph over Air Force on Sunday, smacking four home runs and allowing just three hits in the lopsided affair.
The 'Dogs dropped Monday night's matchup at No. 11 LSU 16-7 despite leading 6-2 entering the bottom half of the sixth. Tech's one-three hole hitters (Taylor Young, Hunter Wells and Parker Bates) each crushed a solo shot as six Bulldogs tallied multi-hit games in the loss.
In just two games played so far, Tech already has nine batters with two hits or more. Bates and Young lead the way with five base knocks apiece. With a home run in his second at-bat on Monday, Young notched his third homer in just his seventh at-bat of the season. He leads the Bulldogs in total bases (14), homers (three) and slugging percentage (1.400).
On the mound, ace Jonathan Fincher struck out 10 batters in five innings while allowing just one run and two hits to earn his first victory of the year. Tech's Ryan Jennings made his first career start on Monday, performing admirably against the No. 11 Tigers by going 4.1 innings on the mound while allowing two runs and just four hits.
LA Tech has recorded 10 or more hits in four straight games dating back to the 2020 season, scoring at least seven runs in each game during that stretch.
The Diamond Dogs are 8-2 in their past 10 and 4-1 in their past five games against the Ragin' Cajuns. Tuesday's projected starter Jarret Whorff earned his first Bulldog victory in 2020 with a dominant outing at Russo Park, delivering 6.1 innings of shutout baseball while allowing just one hit and punching out seven batters. LA Tech swept the Ragin' Cajuns in a two-game set in 2020, winning 2-1 in the season opener before notching a dominant 10-0 win in the second game.
