RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech's baseball team will play its first home game on campus in front of fans in 682 days when the Diamond Dogs open a three-game series against McNeese State on Friday. LA Tech will play host to the Cowboys on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the new J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
Friday's game will start at 6 p.m., Saturday's contest will start at 2 p.m. and Sunday's game will begin at 1 p.m. in the Love Shack.

About the Diamond Dogs
LA Tech will return home to J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park for a three-game series against McNeese State. The series will mark the first time the Diamond Dogs will welcome fans into their new stadium after sweeping Southern University in front of no fans a weekend ago.
Bulldog sluggers Philip Matulia and Parker Bates rank inside the top 10 in multiple Conference USA categories. Matulia leads the C-USA in batting average (.500) and on-base percentage (.545), while Bates ranks tied for third in hits (12) and doubles (four).
Tech's weekend rotation of Fincher, Jennings and Whorff have combined for 31 strikeouts while allowing just eight walks through six combined starts in 2021. Each Bulldog starter has tallied a win this season, which includes Jennings notching his first-career LA Tech win this past Saturday against Southern. Jennings pitched five innings of scoreless baseball with seven strikeouts in the 5-1 triumph.
Bates and fellow senior outfielder Steele Netterville both have reached base in 15 or more games in-a-row. Netterville has tallied a hit in 16 of 18 games during his on-base streak, while Bates has recorded a base hit in 14 out of 15 contests during his own on-base run.
LA Tech has won five of its past six games against McNeese State, winning four straight games from 2017-19. The Diamond Dogs lead the all-time series against the Cowboys 75-45. Head coach Lane Burroughs is 5-2 against McNeese State since taking over the Bulldog program in 2017.
Scouting McNeese State
McNeese State will roll into Ruston on a five-game winning streak, sweeping four games against Prairie View A&M at home before recording a 4-3 win over in-state foe UL-Lafayette on Wednesday. The Cowboys recorded four runs in the sixth inning of Wednesday's matchup to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 lead before holding on in the ninth for the victory.
Friday night starter Will Dion will head to the mound as the reigning D1Baseball/AstroTurf Player of the Week, setting a school record with 19 strikeouts against the Panthers. The southpaw faced just three batters over the minimum during his historic performance, giving up just three hits and one walk in the lockdown outing.
Outfielder Clayton Rasbeary paces the Cowboys in hits (17), runs scored (eight), RBI (eight), slugging percentage (.839) and total bases (26). Despite tallying just two long balls as a team, the Cowboys have tallied six triples in just eight games this season.
Head coach Justin Hill enters his eighth season in charge of the McNeese State program, compiling a 205-167 record. Hill's squad finished 10-7 in the shortened 2020 season.
