RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech men's golf team returns to action this week as the Bulldogs are set to compete at the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational at the Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Course (Par 72 – 6,756 yards) in Montgomery, Texas, on Monday and Tuesday.
"The guys put some solid work in since we got back to Ruston from our last event," head coach
Matt Terry said. "I'm looking forward to seeing that work get out into play this week."
The 54-hole tournament will take place on Monday and Tuesday with Monday's round consisting of 36 holes and Tuesday's round 18. Each day will begin with an 8:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.
Louisiana Tech will be represented at the tournament by junior
James Swash (74.56 avg.), sophomore
Lake Juban (74.37 avg.), senior
Sam Murphy (72.74 avg.), senior
Mac Murphy (72.89 avg.) and sophomore
Hunter Battles (74.64 avg.). Freshman
Will Patrick (77.75 avg.) will compete individually at the tournament.
LA Tech will take on a field of 13 teams, including Sam Houston, Abilene Christian, Incarnate Wood, Louisiana-Lafayette, McNeese, Northern Colorado, New Orleans, Nicholls, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, University of St. Thomas (TX), UTA and Wichita State.

Louisiana Tech has competed in eight events so far in the 2020-21 season and last participated in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. Prior to that tournament, Tech competed at the Linger Longer Invitational where the Bulldogs earned their third top-five team finish of the season with a -4 (290-283-287=860). The Murphy brothers led Louisiana Tech individually at the tournament after tying for 11th as M. Murphy finished with a -2 (76-71-67=214) and S. Murphy a -2 (75-66-73=214).
