DALLAS – Louisiana Tech men's javelin thrower
Tripp Marcus was named Conference USA's Men's Field Athlete of the Week after setting a school record in the javelin throw at this past weekend's Leon Johnson NSU Invitational in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Marcus, a Ruston native and Cedar Creek High School alumnus, holds the new LA Tech school record in the javelin throw after his third and final attempt of the meet sailed 72.51 meters. Not only did Marcus set the school record once, he did it twice. The Ruston native's new school record tops the C-USA and ranks 16
th nationally. His mark of 72.51 meters is more than 4 meters longer than the next closest C-USA competitor.
Marcus and his teammates will compete in their final regular season meet this weekend at Texas A&M's Alumni Muster in College Station, Texas.
