Oklahoma – originally scheduled to play Baylor this weekend before the Bears postponed the series due to COVID19 concerns – comes to Ruston ranked No. 1 in the country with a perfect 28-0 record. The Sooners boast eye-popping offensive numbers, ranking No. 1 in the country in just about every conceivable category. OU has hit 91 home runs this year, including an NCAA single game record 13 in a 29-0 win over UTEP in its season opener.
All-American Jocelyn Alo leads the nation with 22 home runs and 58 RBI while batting .566 thus far this season. She is far from the only Sooner making noise. Mackenzie Donihoo (.537, 5 HR, 19 RBI), Tiare Jennings (.527, 16 HR, 52 RBI), Kinzie Hansen (.500, 15 HR, 37 RBI) and Grace Lyons (.463, 11 HR, 35 RBI) are just a few more of OU's weapons.
In the circle, the Sooners are led by Shannon Saile (8-0, 0.41 ERA), Nicole May (9-0, 1.58 ERA) and Giselle Juarez (10-0, 2.42 ERA). Saile began her career at FIU where she was named the C-USA Freshman of the Year in 2017.
Mississippi State (19-15) steps out of SEC play – was originally scheduled to play Tennessee this weekend before the Vols postponed the series due to COVID19 concerns – boasts its own prolific home runs threats in Fa Leilua (.362, 12 HR, 32 RBI) and Mia Davidson (.330, 10 HR, 23 RBI).
In the circle, the Bulldogs are led by Annie Willis (11-4, 2.56) and Emily Williams (3-3, 3.94 ERA).
Louisiana Tech (13-16) has won eight of its last 13 games, but dropped a pair of road midweek contests at No. 15 LSU (6-4) and McNeese State (7-1).
Brooke Diaz (.298, 2 HR, 8 RBI),
KB Briley (.293, 10 runs),
Amanda Gonzalez (.289, 9 runs),
Tristin Court (.277, 11 RBI) and
Zoe Hicks (.273, 16 runs) lead Tech at the plate.
