RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech head coach
Matt Terry has been named the Louisiana Men's Golf Coach of the Year by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association as announced by the organization on Friday.

In Terry's fourth season at the helm of the Bulldog program, he helped lead Louisiana Tech to a No. 119Â GolfStat ranking, three top-five team finishes and one team title. LA Tech finished in the top-10 in seven tournaments, including three top-five finishes: LaTour Intercollegiate (1st, -12), Jim Rivers Intercollegiate (4th, -4) and Linger Longer Invitational (4th, -4). Louisiana Tech finished the LaTour Intercollegiate 18 strokes ahead of second place Jacksonville State as LA Tech registered a combined -12 (288-276=564). Tech's -12 (276) second round performance tied for the lowest team round score in program history. LA Tech won its lone head-to-head match play contest of the season with a 4.0-2.0 victory over North Texas. As a team, the Bulldogs carded an 11-under (277) twice at both the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate and the Little Rock Invitational.

M. Murphy, who was the 2020 LSWA Newcomer of the Year, was named third team all-Conference USA in the 2021 season. The Decatur, Ala., native competed in all 10 events as a senior. He led the team with a stroke average of 72.56 over 25 rounds. M. Murphy finished a team-best 14 rounds at or under par. He shot a season-low 67 twice at the LaTour Intercollegiate (Feb. 14) and the Linger Longer Invitational (March 14). The Bulldog senior tied for second twice with a -5 at the LaTour Intercollegiate (Feb. 13-14) and a -4 at the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational (April 12-13). M. Murphy placed in the top-30 in eight of the Tech's nine tournaments. Individually, M. Murphy competed in the final qualifier for the 2021 U.S. Open.

S. Murphy also competed in all 10 events as a senior. The native of Decatur, Ala. won his first individual intercollegiate tournament after finishing the LaTour Intercollegiate with a combined -7 (69-68=137). S. Murphy placed in the top-20 in seven of the Tech's nine tournaments. He was second on the team with a stroke average of 72.72 over 25 rounds. S. Murphy finished 12 rounds at or under par during his senior campaign. He shot a career-low 65 in the second round of the Little Rock Invitational (Oct. 19).
