LA Tech Bowling Leads SBL in Academic Honor Roll Recognitions

RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech women's bowling team earned the most spots on the 2021 Southland Bowling League Academic Honor Roll as 11 Lady Techsters were recognized by the conference on Monday.

The SBL Academic Honor Roll was put into place during the 2018-19 school year and is currently in its third season of recognition. All nominees for the Southland Bowling League's Academic Honor Roll team must have earned at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least one year at the nominating institution.

Seniors Ashley Channell and Kaitlyn Eder were recognized for the third straight year. Juniors Lindsay Manning, Kalia Patterson and Emily Rettig, redshirt sophomore Sara Howell-Floyd, and sophomores Danielle Jedlicki, Emma Koch, Allie Leiendecker and Tara Spridco all earned All-Academic honors for the second straight year. Freshman Baileigh Snow earned her first spot on the Academic Honor Roll.

Howell-Floyd and Spridco have achieved perfect 4.0 GPAs as two of just four SBL bowlers to register the feat.

Louisiana Tech had 12 student-athletes named to the 2020-21 Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in Channell, Eder, Howell-Floyd, Jedlicki, Koch, Leiendecker, Manning, sophomore Katelyn Orisek, Patterson, Rettig, Snow and Spridco. Eder, Howell-Floyd, Manning, Rettig and Spridco also received the 2020-21 C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.

The academic honors cap a historic season for Louisiana Tech after the team earned its highest ranking in program history as the Lady Techsters were ranked fifth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association February Poll. Tech made its first national championship appearances at both the 2021 National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship and the Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITC). At the NCAA Tournament, the Lady Techsters registered the first perfect Baker game in program history after bowling a 300.

LA Tech competed in 14 events and placed in the top-five at nine tournaments during the 2020-21 season. Tech finished second at four tournaments, including the Southland Conference Championships. Eder and Leiendecker were named to the 2021 All-Southland Bowling League Third Team. Leiendecker was also named a NTCA All-American honorable mention.
