RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech fifth-year senior golfer Sam Murphy was named the Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week it was announced by the league on Wednesday.
 
Murphy won the individual title in LA Tech's first tournament of the 2021-22 campaign after finishing the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate with a -13 (68-68-67-203). The win marked Murphy's second collegiate individual title after winning the LaTour Intercollegiate last season.
 
Murph's -13 (203) mark tied for the lowest three round individual score in Jim Rivers Intercollegiate history. The Decatur, Ala., native carded 18 birdies during the tournament, including eight birdies in Tuesday's final round. Murphy only had two bogeys in his first 40 holes of the tournament.
 
Murphy is the first Bulldog to earn C-USA honors this season.
