Bulldogs Finish Trinity Forest Invitational with Best Round

DALLAS – The Louisiana Tech Golf team registered its best score in the final round of the Trinity Forest Invitational on Tuesday, totaling a 283 (-5) to help make the highest jump of any team at the Trinity Forest Golf Club.

The Bulldogs flirted again with cracking it into the top 10 just like in round two, but bogeys on the finishing holes landed them at 870 (+6) for the event.  With their round three score, they jumped five teams and ended up finishing in 12th place to finish ahead of Loyola Marymount, UT Arlington, Florida Atlantic, Abilene Christian and Wichita State.

LA Tech had three players – Thomas Henson (-3), James Swash (-2) and Lake Juban (-2) – finish under par in the third round.  The trio combined for 13 birdies and two eagles.

Henson was the high finisher for the Bulldogs, registering a 211 (-5) to finish in a tie for 13th place.  The newcomer was consistent over the three days, carding at or under par each round (70-72-69).

Juban had the second highest finish for the squad, recording 73-72-70=215 (-1) to tie for 27th.  Swash battled back from back-to-back 74's to tally a 70 on the final day and finish at 218 (+2) for the invitational.

Will Patrick finished at +12 (78-74-76=228), Peyton Johnson ended up at +13 (78-77-74=229), and individual Reeves Pullin wrapped up his first career collegiate event at +16 (77-76-79=232).

QUOTABLES
Head coach Matt Terry

"It was a better round for us today, shooting under par.  We still need to work on finishing off a good round of golf.  It was a good finish for James today and a good tournament for Thomas and Lake with both ending up under par for the event.  It is a quick turnaround for us as we head to Purdue for our next competition."
