HAMMOND, La. – Louisiana Tech fell short Wednesday, dropping its fourth straight to Southeastern 4-3 on Wednesday night at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
LA Tech (5-4) right-hander,
Jarret Whorff got the nod on Wednesday with a limited pitch count throwing the first two innings, striking out two Lions and also walking two.
Jackson Lancaster came in relief of Whorff as he scampered through trouble early in his outing. Lancaster walked the first two batters he faced and Southeastern (4-5) centerfielder, Tyler Finke, drove a one-out double to left field that brought in the first two runs.
Walker Burchfield's first hit as a Bulldog came on a two-run home run in the fourth inning to even the score back up at 2-2.
Cole McConnell was 2-for-4 on the night leading the LA Tech offense. McConnell singled to lead off the sixth inning and eventually came around to score on a two-out wild pitch to put the Bulldogs on top 3-2.
The Lions regained the lead in the seventh inning. The first two batters reached base on hit-by-pitches. Tristan Welch came around to score on a throwing error. Two batters later, Evan Keller delivered a two-out single to bring in the go-ahead run.
