ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (15-6, 2-1 C-USA)
LA Tech comes into the weekend having won eight of their last nine games, following an extra inning thriller taking down No. 14 LSU for the second time this season.
Taylor Young extended his on-base streak to 15 after going 2-for-4 at No. 14 LSU on Wednesday night with a double and the game-winning walk with the bases loaded in the 12
th inning. Young has reached base in 20 of the 21 games played.
Cole McConnell leads the Bulldog hitters with 25 RBI in the two-hole while sporting a .359 batting average with 4 home runs.
Jonathan Fincher is slated to make his sixth start after collecting a no decision in last Friday's win at UTSA. The left-hander is 4-0 with a 31 to three strikeout to walk ratio.
ABOUT FIU (9-12, 2-1 C-USA)
FIU is also coming off a weekend where they finished 2-1 in conference play, defeating Marshall on Saturday and Sunday 11-3 and 13-3.
Adrian Figueroa and Robert Sotolongo both lead the team with a .306 batting average.
Redshirt junior Alec Sanchez has tallied a team-leading six home runs going into the weekend series with a .298 batting average and 23 RBI.
Head Coach Mervyl Melendez enters his sixth season at the helm. The Panther head coach took over the job in June of 2016 after building the Alabama State program to a respected group of five program. Melendez collected his 600
th career win as a head coach on March 6, 2019.
THE SERIES
FIU leads the all-time series over LA Tech 18-15 with the schools splitting the season series 1-1 in 2021. The last time the Bulldogs and Panthers met in Ruston, the Bulldogs took two out of three games. LA Tech is 6-4 in the last 10 meetings dating back to 2017.
