FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Mac and
Sam Murphy both shot opening round two-under-par 69s to lead Louisiana Tech in the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championships at Vanderbilt Legends Club Friday.
Mac and Sam are in a tie for 12
th place out of 87 competitors in the 17-team field.
Mac shot even par 35 on the front before finishing with a two-under-par on the back nine as his round consisted of four birdies and two bogeys.
Sam shot one-under on both the front nine and the back nine in a round that included four birdies and two bogeys.
Payne Johnson sits in a tie for 54
th after a two-over-par 73.
James Swash is tied for 70
th with a 75 while
Blake Blaser sits in a tie for 83
rd with a 77.
The Bulldogs are in 10
th place through the first round, just one shot off of 7
th place behind Virginia, Ball State and Mississippi State.
Tech will play round two on Saturday with morning tee times.
