LA Tech Finishes the Homestand With Northwestern State Tuesday Night

The Bulldogs will play the Demons at 6 p.m.

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech finishes the six-game homestand with in-state foe Northwestern State Tuesday at 6 p.m. at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (23-10, 9-3 C-USA)
LA Tech is coming off of a midweek series split with UL-Lafayette and a three-game conference series sweep of the Rice Owls.
 
The Bulldog pitching staff was dominant over the weekend versus Rice posting 41 total strikeouts with 14 of them coming from Saturday starter Ryan Jennings. The staff held the Owls to just seven runs on the weekend.
 
Taylor Young leads the squad in nine different hitting categories. The senior shortstop also leads the conference with 41 runs scored and four triples as he collected one over the weekend.
 
Bulldog designated-hitter Walker Burchfield made his presence known at the plate over the weekend. Burchfield was 7-for-16 over his last four starts at the DH spot with two homers, two doubles and nine RBI.
 
Right-hander Greg Martinez will make his fifth straight midweek start versus NSU on Tuesday. Martinez delivered a very strong start his last time out going five innings, allowing no runs on three hits and striking out seven.

ABOUT NORTHWESTERN STATE (15-16, 5-4 SOUTHLAND)
Northwestern State rolls into Ruston on a four-game losing streak after dropping a midweek game to Lamar and being swept over the weekend by Incarnate Word in San Antonio.
 
Demon second baseman Daunte Stuart leads the club with a .311 batting average while also having the most at-bats on the team with 122. The sophomore sits in second on the team with 22 RBI and is first in doubles with nine.
 
Junior right-hander Andrew Cossio is set to make his second start of the season on Tuesday. Cossio's last appearance came last Wednesday against Lamar when he tossed two innings allowing one earned run with two walks and a strikeout.

THE SERIES
The Bulldogs and Demons will meet for the 134th time on Tuesday night with the Bulldogs leading the all-time series 81-52. The two schools have not met since the 2019 season when the Demons swept the season series winning 8-4 in Ruston and 3-1 in Natchitoches.
